FUN FACTS: April 11 is “International Louie Louie Day” and the birthday of the song’s composer Richard Berry. Berry recorded the song “Louie Louie” in 1957 and it failed to make the Billboard charts, but in 1963 the song was covered by The Kingsmen and went on to spend 16 weeks in the Billboard Top 10, peaking at #2. “Louie Louie” is considered one of the most covered songs of all time, with over 1500 known recordings of the song in existence.
