Fun Facts: The modern casserole was invent in New Hampshire by French Canadian immigrant Elmire Jolicoeur in 1866 – though cooking in earthenware had been common throughout human history, it wasn’t until the 1950s and the introduction of more lightweight cookware that using them to form a one-dish meal surged in popularity.
